To all of you who have been involved in getting us our "baskets", Spring, Summer and Fall: Thank you!

This latest bountiful basket which will take us through Thanksgiving (for those not signed up on the Thanksgiving special) is such a treat! We have enjoyed everything for the past months; we've enjoyed learning how to cook things we would not ordinarily buy in a store; we've learned how to deal with "super abundance" of some things when the crops are in and that's been part of the fun. We share in the abundant and in the scarce when early freezes complicate your lives.

My husband and I have particularly enjoyed the little "extras" such as the sunflower head which managed to look so much like a turkey that our neighbor dressed it up as one! Then there was the popcorn from last week which didn't exactly "twist off the cob" but we got the kernels off and popped the corn -- best popcorn we ever had! The catsup, relish, jams and jellies are being saved as they will keep but we'll give back the jars next year!

We hope you have a Happy Holiday season and thank you so much for working so hard to bring us fresh, local, organic foods! Margaret & Mike Tippett

Thanks so much! We have thoroughly enjoyed the baskets all summer...  Thank you again.

Debbie

I wanted to take a minute to write a note of gratitude.

I'm new to  the basket family and am enjoying my vegetables and fruits immensely. Yesterday when I got home with my bag of goodies and took them out one by one, I was overcome with gratitude for the bounty of the earth. The variety of vegetables was beautiful to look at and as I reached in to pull out yet another selection, my heart was just filled with thanks for the good  that has been provided by our Creator.

I am blessed to be a part of the Great Basin Basket family.     Paula S.

Hi Tina,

We love the basket, regardless of what is in it... and sometimes when it is less it is more because you really do appreciate what it takes to eat locally. So it is an awareness. I would prefer to have less quantity if it means better quality. Gigantic tomatoes in the supermarket don't have a fraction of the flavor that is in those cherry tomatoes we got yesterday. They pop in your mouth! I hope others can understand and continue to support you all.
I have never enjoyed peaches as much as I have this summer- they are so delicious and fresh. We work our weekly meal menu around the basket- which actually makes things more fun and exciting. I remember my moms garden from when I was younger- and I do remember the CRAZY amounts of squash and zucchini that would come all at once- you couldn't give enough of it away! Feast or famine right? So you have to learn the art of canning or baking or sharing. She used to make the best zucchini bread- now I know why!!! Thanks for all you do- I ordered the fruit share today.

Hope to see you again soon,
Cheri

Hi, What we got yesterday was great.  We had a little bit of everything and it was excellent.  Thank you for all of your hard work.

Rhonda M.

Thank you for the wonderful newsletter. I am a new member and loving the baskets that I have received. We cooked up some squash and garlic and the kids ate it up like it was candy. They had so much flavor and the strawberries... YUM!!!! I was curious about the tomatoes though since I did not receive any in my basket this week. Are we supposed to get the items you listed (I realize that it could be cherry tomatoes since I received an early girl last week)? Thanks for all of your hard work in putting this together.
