How much food is included in the weekly basket?
Two sizes are offered - a full basket that typically feeds 3-4 and a lite basket that feeds 2-3. Each week has a different quantity and variety of fresh produce, depending on the season and Mother Nature! Consider it a supplement to your weekly groceries and enough to feed a small family.  Often you'll receive more produce during the middle and end of summer, which is peak harvest season. Spring baskets will weigh the least - lettuce and greens in spring are lighter than summer melons and winter squash.

What will be included in my weekly basket?
A variety of vegetables and fruit are offered throughout the seasons. The yearly growing cycle yields different crops at different times. For instance, corn will not likely be available in June, yet in August and September it will be bountiful! We try to have salad greens each week, although it's difficult in the heat of summer. See our list of produce variety and availability throughout the season.

Will there be any fruit?
Melon and berries will be in your basket in late summer, along with seasonal vegetables. For those who want more fruit, we offer a late summer fruit share with a variety of fruit including peaches, pears, apples, berries, and more. Look for our famous Hearts of Gold melons in late summer!

Can I get bananas, lemons, or avocados in my weekly basket?
Sorry, those and other tropical fruits will not be available from local growers. Part of belonging to a CSA is becoming familiar with local, seasonal eating. That means eating what grows in our region during the different seasons. Light greens in the spring, melons and berries in the summer, potatoes and hearty root vegetables in the autumn - these are the foods that are best for our bodies.

Will other local foods be available through the CSA?
Yes! We may have grass-fed beef, eggs, jams and jellies, and more available at an extra charge. Check our specials page to see what we have coming up. Bountiful harvest items will be available in bulk amounts for canning, pickling, and preserving.

What if I'm out of town or on vacation and can't pick up my basket?
If you can't pick up your basket during any week, why not arrange for a family
member or friend to pick it up and enjoy it? Otherwise, baskets not picked up
will be given to charity.

How local is our produce?
Most of our farms are within 100 miles of Reno. Occasionally, they are farther. Our mission is to support small, sustainable family farms.

I saw your website but could not find out if all food is organic.

We don't call ourselves organic, although most of our producers are Certified Organic. If we place a bulb of garlic that's has been grown on uncertified land--even if it is land in transition--it would disqualify the weekly box as organic. So... we decided to call ourselves sustainable and include local small farms that could contribute to our CSA in any degree. Our farmers follow rigorous organic practices without the use of synthetics or modified seeds of any kind. We buy all our seeds organic and follow all organic growing principles whether it is certified land, transitional land or a farmer who is joining us this year for the first time.
