How much food is included in the weekly basket?
While each week will have a different variety of fresh produce, we will make our best attempts to provide a fairly constant amount of food each week. Consider it as a supplement to your weekly groceries and enough to feed a small family of four...or two raging vegetarians! It is likely that the amount of produce you receive will be greater towards the middle and end of the summer season than it is at the beginning. This is due to the natural growing cycle: lettuce in spring takes up less space than squash and watermelons in fall.

What will be included in my weekly basket?
There will be a variety of different produce and sometimes fruits available throughout the season. The yearly growing cycle yields different crops at different times of the season. For instance, corn will not likely be available in June, yet in August and September it will be bountiful! We will attempt to have salad greens each week, although in the heat of summer that is not possible. See our list of produce variety and availability throughout the season.

Will there be any fruit?
We are offering a fruit share this year; see our Specials page. We should have raspberries, blackberries, and melons toward the end of the season, too. Look forward to our famous Hearts
of Gold melons from Fallon!

Can I get bananas, lemons, or avocados in my weekly basket?
Sorry, those and other tropical fruits will not be available from local growers…. Even the best greenhouse gardener in Nevada would have a difficult time pulling that off! Part of belonging to a CSA is getting familiar with the local climate and growing season in order to understand what sorts of foods grow in Northern Nevada and the neighboring Sierras. Unfortunately, those do not.

Will other local foods be available through the CSA?
Yes! We may have grass-fed beef, jams, and more available at an extra charge. Check our specials page to see what we have coming up, and bountiful harvest items will be available in bulk amounts for canning, pickling, and preserving.

What if I'm out of town or on vacation and can't pick up my basket?
If you can't pick up your basket during any week, why not arrange for a family
member or friend to pick it up and enjoy it? Otherwise, baskets not picked up
will be given to charity.
